Season Update - May 30

Hello Everyone,

We hope that you and your families are well. There has been a large amount of planning leading up to the June 1st date to bring baseball to our youth this summer. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we put together a plan for the upcoming weeks. Attached you will find our plan/procedure for the upcoming practices moving forward. Also, there will be a waiver for those children who will be participating and for those who will be coaching. This waiver will be sent out electronically though Sports Engine and will need to be signed before participation.

The board has decided that we will postpone T-Ball and Coaches Pitch until July 6th. With the new guidelines we felt it best as these age groups would be difficult to adhere to the guidelines and we are hoping that by July 6th they will loosen.

Coaches will contact you this week with your players’ pod and practice schedule.

We are refunding everyone for their Huskies cards and volunteer fee as we don’t for see the concessions opening at this time. These will be refunded to your card or via check depending on when you registered.

There has been and update with the Quad Cities league and at this point the start date for the league has been set for July 6th. There is a subcommittee formed for that league to start planning on what the rules, procedure, and plan will be when we are ok to play games. Also, the league has decided that if we are not allowed to play by June 15th the league will cancel the rest of the season. That said if we are allowed to play after June 15th, we will play games internally or with other communities.

When it comes to travel ball, we are hoping that we can play tournaments on June 15th but as we know all tournaments are cancelled until then. If you are comfortable with your child practicing but not participating in travel ball this year please let us know by Monday June 1st.

We understand that everyone may have questions that need to be answered before they make the decision on whether or not they want their child participating this year. So, we are setting up a Q&A session via Go To Meeting for Sunday May 31st at 7 PM. You will find the meeting link below. This will not be a board meeting and will be designated as a Q&A session only. If you cannot attend the meeting and still have questions please email Josh Martalock at jmartalock@hotmail.com

We would kindly ask that if you are not comfortable with you child playing baseball this year that you let us know by Monday June 1. This will help us to form our Pods. We would also ask any coaches that are not comfortable with coaching to let us know by the above date. You can email Josh Martalock at jmartalock@hotmail.com or Bob Morgan at mo244@hotmail.com Trusted Coaches and Background Checks will be sent out by June 2nd and will need to be completed before a coach is allowed on the field.

Thank you,

Hermantown Youth Baseball
